Laurel Bowman is a media trainer and media and public relations specialist. She has coached a wide variety of clients – from politicians to CEO’s -- on how to present themselves to the media and to the public.
For political candidates, this includes organizing and executing the candidates’ preparation for debates, public speeches and interviews with both print and broadcast journalists. She helps her clients hone their messages into clear, concise and compelling concepts. This means helping them simplify what can be complex ideas into simple, discernible sentences and soundbites. Laurel worked as an on-camera television anchor and reporter for years, so she also consults clients on appropriate dress, hair and make-up (where appropriate), posture, delivery and the like.
Laurel is also an expert at creating video content and works with clients to tell their strongest stories via this medium for the web, social media, conferences, board meetings and the like. Laurel began her career as a journalist, where she worked for media outlets including NBC News, CNBC, and Voice of America (VOA). Her work has also appeared on the BBC, National Geographic and PBS.
Laurel graduated cum laude from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and earned her master’s degree from the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University.
